Evergreene Homes has started demolition of the home at 1301 Macbeth Street. Delivery of the new home is expected in the summer of 2018.
Demolition started early this morning of the home at 1301 Macbeth Street in the McLean Hamlet. It does not take long to bring down a home, as seen in this video.
A new home will be built on the site by Evergreene Homes. By the end of the day, only a pile of rubble was left on the property.
There are two home sales to report in the McLean Hamlet. The home at 8004 Birnam Wood Drive sold for $900,000 on October 6. The home at 1305 Oberon Way sold for $1,025,000 on October 11.
8004 Birnam Wood Drive was listed for sale on July 14, 2017, at a price of $959,000. The home was listed with 5 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. It was on the market for 46 days before receiving a contract, and the price had been reduced to $925,000 at the time it went under contract. It was listed by TTR Sothebys.
1305 Oberon was listed for sale on September 8, 2017, and went under contract on the same day. It was listed with 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. It was listed by McEnearney Associates.
There was a lot of activity recently at 8026 Birnam Wood Drive, moving trucks loaded furniture, junk haulers took away lots of trash and debris, and a charity van picked up a donation of furniture from the driveway. A neighbor asked me if it was true that this home at the corner of Falstaff Road and Birnam Wood Drive would be torn down, noting that the gas line had been disconnected in the front yard. I cannot confirm what will happen to the property, but according to the Fairfax County Department of Tax Administration website, the property sold on September 1, 2017 for $825,000. The county site says that the sale was a “Handyman special / below average condition”, which indicates that the sale price was below expected market value.
The property at 1321 Banquo Court in the McLean Hamlet is listed for sale for $899,000. The property, which previously sold for $921,375 on August 31, 2015, has a house on the lot but the listing agent noted that the house is not habitable due to water damage and is in need of restoration.
8025 Falstaff Rd in the McLean Hamlet sells for $942,000.
The home at 8025 Falstaff Road, listed for $899,000, on August 11, sold for $942,000 on September 18, 2017. The home was on the market for just 4 days before selling well above the list price.
The home has been renovated extensively prior to being listed for sale. This home is a just a few doors from mine, and I watched as contractors brought this home into ready to sell condition by refinishing the hardwood floors, updating the bathrooms, and completely renovating the kitchen with new appliances, cabinets, and granite counters. I enjoy helping McLean Hamlet neighbors, and in this case my neighbor was also my client. Thank you Rick Mann for posting this review at Zillow.com after the purchase of a new home last week.
I just sold this beautiful lakefront townhome in Reston for $800,000. The buyers are my longtime neighbors in the McLean Hamlet, so I’m looking for not just one, but two sets of new neighbors. I know of at least two homes that will be available for rent soon on my street. If you know anyone who wants to rent a home in the McLean Hamlet, please have them contact me.
I was thrilled to help Rick and Lori purchase this home. Lakefront homes in Reston are highly sought after, and we got this home under contract before it was listed in the MLS. We eliminated the competition and got it for well below the appraised value.
