A contract was ratified quickly on 8022 Birnam Wood Drive as expected. The home was listed on October 16 for $1,199,900.

The only home currently active for sale in the McLean Hamlet is 7725 Desdemona Court. The home has been on the market since June 24, listed with two brokerages during that time. The listing states that the seller is motivated and that all offers are welcome. The price was reduced today from $1,200,000 to $1,199,000. It will be interesting to see if this price reduction leads to a contract.

VDOT Public Hearing for the 495 Express Lanes Northern Extension scheduled for 10/5/20

VDOT is conducting a virtual public meeting regarding the location and design of the I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension on Monday, October 5, 2020. Postcards were mailed to McLean Hamlet residents in early September to notify residents of the upcoming meeting. It will be held virtually and information can be found at 495NorthernExtension.org.

A concerned Hamlet resident recently asked me if properties are going to be affected by the project. The study process has been ongoing for several years, and the project website includes comments from the May 20, 2019 public hearing that addresses that question. A link to the public comments can be found here. The specific question and response found on page 15 is included in the photo below.

The answer is not definitive in any manner. Interested parties are encouraged to participate in the hearing and send comments.

Two Homes Under Contract in the McLean Hamlet

The past week saw a few new properties listed and two homes received contracts. The home at 8103 Falstaff Road went under contract after 4 days on the market. It was listed on August 27, for $1,050,000. The home at 7806-A Birnam Wood Drive, listed for $1,398,888, also went under contract. It had been on the market for 228 days.

The listing agent of 1348 Macbeth provided new information on the listing of that home. It is undergoing extensive renovations and will be listed for sale, with an expected list price around $1,300,000.
